Training

The Mind-Body Attunement Therapy ® training program consists of two levels, the Certificate being a prerequisite for the Diploma.

Students will deepen their understanding of attachment histories and somatically processed emotion.

Certificate

The Mind-Body Attunement Therapy ® Certificate level training presents simple body-oriented interventions for tracking, naming and safely exploring trauma-related somatic activation, creating new competencies and restoring a somatic sense of self. Students will learn effective, accessible interventions for identifying and working with disruptive somatic patterns, disturbed cognitive and emotional processing, and the fragmented sense of self experienced by so many traumatized individuals. Techniques are taught within a phase-oriented treatment approach, focusing first on stabilization and symptom reduction. The length of this training is between 80 and 90 hours.

In addition to the training the Certificate program consists of 10 50 minute Supervision Sessions and 10 Peer Observed Sessions. Supervision sessions are individual sessions of reviewing videotaped practice of Mind-Body Attunement Therapy intervention. Peer Observed Sessions include a 50 minute experience of Mind-Body Attunement Therapy ® and discussion from an approved provider with a student observer and a 50 minute observation of a student experiencing Mind-Body Attunement Therapy ® and discussion. The cost of each Supervision and Peer Observed Session is $100.

Diploma

The Mind-Body Attunement Therapy ® Diploma addresses the more complex attachment traumas as evident in personality disorders, dissociation and countertransference which often arise following disorganised attachments. Students will learn to intervene with attachment traumas arising from Loss, Neglect, Abuse and Shame. Interventions taught include working with transference, mindfulness and the felt sense. Interventions tailored to the circumstances presented by the client, such as slowing down the pace, emphasising a non-threatening therapeutic relationship, increasing the amount of repetition and practice, all contribute to expanding the Window of Tolerance.

In addition to the training the Diploma program consists of 10 50 minute Supervision Sessions and 10 Peer Observed Sessions.
